The Vey'Lora, known as The Windborne, are an ancient, nomadic people who roam the endless golden grasslands of Vaelthar, following the rhythm of the wind. They are deeply attuned to the presence of Vaelora, the Spirit of Endless Grass, and see themselves as her voice and breath, never staying in one place for long. Unlike the Torinok, who build great stone settlements to anchor themselves against the wind, the Vey'Lora embrace movement as their way of life.
Physical Traits
Height & Build
- Tall and willowy, typically standing between 6’2” and 7’0”.
- Their bodies are light-boned and sinewy, making them exceptionally fast but less suited for brute force combat.
- They have long limbs, granting them effortless agility and an elongated stride.
Skin & Texture
- Semi-translucent in certain light, appearing to blend into the meadows around them.
- The surface of their skin shifts slightly—not unlike the way grass ripples in the wind—though this is only noticeable in moments of deep concentration or meditation.
- Their skin tones range from pale gold to deep earthen bronze, often dusted with pollen from the Skyveil Flats, giving them an ever-present glow in moonlight.
- Some have intricate wind-marks, faint spiraling patterns across their skin, believed to be a sign of Vaelora’s direct blessing.
Eyes & Vision
- Bright gold in direct sunlight.
- Dusky blue at twilight.
- Soft green-gray in stormy weather.
- A faint silver glow under the night sky.
Hair & Windflow
- Vey’Lora hair never fully rests, always caught in a gentle, unseen breeze, no matter where they are.
- Textures range from flowing, silken locks to fine, wispy strands, always moving as if weightless.
- Hair colors reflect the land, ranging from straw-gold to ashen silver, with rare shades of deep, stormy gray.
- Some elders say the wind chooses the color of a Vey’Lora’s hair, marking their path in life.
- Golden-haired Vey’Lora are said to be blessed travelers, always finding the safest routes.
- Silver-haired ones are storm-callers, their presence foretelling change.
- Dark-haired Vey’Lora are believed to be lost souls, torn from the wind’s favor.

Movement & Reflexes
- They walk with an unnatural fluidity, their steps barely pressing into the ground.
- A Vey’Lora in motion never seems hurried, yet they are always faster than expected.
- When running at full speed, their forms blur slightly, making them hard to track.
- Their reaction time is near-instantaneous, able to dodge an arrow even after it has been fired.
Breathing & Speech
- The Vey’Lora lungs expand and contract much slower, as if drawing breath from the world itself.
- Their voices resonate like whispers carried on the wind, making their speech sound soft yet ever-present.
- Some Wind-Speakers are said to be able to speak without moving their lips—projecting words on the breeze
Diet & Physiology
- They consume only light, energy-rich foods, such as sky-fruits, wild grains, and honey-sap.
- They do not digest heavy meats, instead sustaining themselves from the land itself.
- Their bodies burn energy efficiently, making them able to run for days without tiring.
- They heal remarkably fast, as long as they remain in motion—a wounded Vey’Lora that stops moving may succumb to their injuries faster than expected.
Culture & Way of Life
The Vey'Lora believe that to stand still is to die, and that only through constant movement can one truly live in harmony with Vaelora’s will.
Nomadic Existence
They do not build permanent homes. Instead, they craft woven grass shelters that dissolve into the wind once abandoned.
Their clothing is made of layered, wind-blessed fibers, flowing freely yet protective against the elements.
They never follow the same path twice, believing that the wind always leads them to where they must go.
They ride Skyveil Striders, massive antelope-like creatures that glide with the wind, allowing them to cross great distances with ease.
Society & Leadership
No kings, no rulers – The Vey'Lora are led by the Zephyr Council, a group of elders chosen not by age, but by their attunement to the wind’s wisdom.
Wind-Speakers – Spiritual guides who interpret Vaelora’s whispers and predict where the Vey'Lora must travel next.
The Dance of Paths – A sacred ceremony where young Vey’Lora prove their connection to the wind by navigating through a storm without losing their way.
Conflict with the Torinok
The Torinok, who seek to fortify the land, are seen as defying Vaelora’s will.
The Vey’Lora view their massive stone structures as scars upon the land, unnatural barriers against the wind’s free movement.
The two peoples engage in small skirmishes, with the Vey'Lora disrupting Torinok supply lines and breaking their stoneworks, while the Torinok hunt Vey’Lora nomads for trespassing.
Wind-Warriors among the Vey’Lora wield blades of woven wind, striking with the speed of a storm.
Spiritual Beliefs
- Vaelora’s Breath – The belief that Vaelora speaks through the wind, guiding all who listen.
- The Eternal Current – The idea that life is a flowing path, and stagnation leads to spiritual decay.
- Skyveil Nights – Rituals performed beneath the glowing pollen storms, where the Vey’Lora commune with the past through whispered echoes on the breeze.
Mythology & Legends
- The First Windborne – The story of the first Vey’Lora, who was once a mortal lost in the storm until Vaelora took her hand and led her to freedom.
- The Vanishing Paths – It is said that those who betray the wind fade into nothingness, their footprints erased from existence.
- The Wind’s Last Warning – A prophecy states that if the Vey’Lora ever stop moving, Vaelthar will fall silent, and the land itself will die.
Weapons & Warfare
- Windwoven Spears – Lightweight yet unbreakable, catching the air to strike with unnatural speed.
- Breathwalkers – Vey’Lora scouts who can move faster than the eye can follow, appearing like mirages in the grasslands.
- Stormcallers – Warriors who use the wind itself to turn the tide of battle, dispersing arrows or striking enemies with sudden gales.
